Here is a place I have visited a number of times, and is a great place to retire. It is sad to say, but true, many people can not retire in the United States anymore, it is too expensive, and the climate is not always so good. The Mantaro Valley area has the best climate in the world, and San Jeronimo, and its sister city, Huancayo, near by area, or can be, an excellent choice, and affordable place to retire, or just visit.

Almost everyone has a recollection of a high school world history class and the lesson on the great Inca Empire that stretched down the west coast of South America in the 16th century until the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors. Fewer people know that in the high Andean mountain and plateau region of southeast Peru, the city of Cusco was the political, religious, and commercial center of the vast Inca Empire. Still fewer realize that in addition to being packed with historical sites and famous archaeological monuments; Cusco has a nightlife, bar, and restaurant scene that is as intense and diverse as its history.

I have driven from Arequipa to Cotahuasi many times and have been interested in some of the side roads that we pass. One of them has a sign that says it goes to Cabanaconde, on the rim of the Colca Canyon. Another one goes in the direction of Colca Canyon around the backside of Nevado Coropuna. I have always wondered if it is possible to drive directly to Colca Canyon from Cotahuasi, where I live, rather than going all the way around through Arequipa, which is the normal way. I have a map that shows a road there, but it also shows roads in my area that I know do not exist.

Many trekkers seek to hire a Peru Tour Operator to help them complete an Inca Trail trek, a common way to experience Machu Picchu. While the most common way to get to the Mountain City is by train, others will choose a hike on the Andean Inca Trail. People choose this means of reaching Machu Picchu because it offers a more immersive travel experience, and the slower place allows them to more fully absorb the mystery and spirituality of this ancient site.

We got into the taxi as usual; we were on our way to 'Wong's store' in the district, called, Circle, Lima, Peru. There was no need to speak; my wife told the driver where to go. In the taxi, Delilah heard a shot, I looked out the back window, and someone was trailing us, flowing us closely, too close for comfort, and the men in the vehicle would not give much space between them and us, and this quickly alerted me to danger, real danger.

Peruvian cuisine is said to be a varied combination of flavors from around the world. This is largely due to heavy influences from the immigrant population that consists of Spanish, Basque, African, Sino-Cantonese, Japanese and finally Italian, French and British settlers in addition to the influence of Peru's Inca heritage. As a result, the list of dishes is seemingly endless with over 2,000 varieties of soup in the coastal region alone and more than 250 traditional Peruvian desserts.

When you consider travel to Peru as one of the possible vacation destinations, you automatically remember Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, one of the new Seven Wonders of the World that any traveler must experience once in his lifetime. Peru adventure tours offer a variety of opportunities to witness amazing ancient Incas sites and pass through several micro-climates that are present along the Inca trail to Machu Picchu. Hiking the Inca Trail is a combination of breathtaking mountain views, subtropical jungle, rivers combined with a moderate 4-day hike along the beautiful trail filled with historical and cultural heritage of Incas.
